Human remains identified as missing teen

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) Norfolk police confirm the human remains found in Franklin Thursday belong to 18 year old Anjelica Hadsell, who has been missing since March 2.

Norfolk police said their investigation into AJ disappearanceled them to the houseat 34160 Smiths Ferry Road, in Southampton County. Thursday outside a shed in the backyard of the residence.

I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the Norfolk PD, the FBI, Search Rescue, the media and the public for their superb dedication to this case and finding my daughter, AJ. It has been confirmed by the coroner’s office that [the remains are] in fact AJ. Please respect this time, as we need to release emotionally. Your prayers are appreciated.

AJ Hadsell, a Norview High School graduate and Longwood University freshman, was home on spring break when she disappeared. March 2.

Since Thursday morning, an active police presence has remained at the Smiths Ferry Road residence. Norfolk police were joined by multiple investigative agencies Friday, and, at one point, conducted a line search on the property and surrounding areas.

Anyone with information that might help detectives in this investigation is asked to call the Crime Line at 1 888 LOCK U UP (1 888 562 5887).

Law enforcement vehicles outside home on Smiths Ferry Rd. in Franklin. Day 2 of operation after body was found. However, she said her husband, Wesley Hadsell, frequently traveled to Franklin for work at the time of their daughter’s disappearance.

Wesley Hadsell, 36, is in police custody for six felony charges and one misdemeanor charge stemming from his time inside a home he admits he broke into on March 6. At the time of his arrest, Hadsell told WAVY Joe Fisher he broke into the home to do his own detective work after receiving tips about his daughter location.

Longwood University PresidentTaylor Reveley sent the following message to students on Friday:

There is gravely difficult news to share. As you may have begun to hear through news reports, police have identified remains found in Southampton County as those of our missing student, Anjelica Hadsell.

Though the weight of this horrible prospect has loomed, today extinguishes our hope of AJ’s safe return and confirms our worst fear. Our thoughts are profoundly with her family. These past weeks, they have endured unimaginable anguish and uncertainty, and now they must confront the terrible grief of this loss.

As we keep AJ family foremost in our thoughts, our tight knit community will also feel great heartache. My thoughts are especially with those at Longwood who knew AJ best her hometown friends, her hallmates, her fellow members of the club softball and club field hockey teams, her professors. I also know how many of you, even if you did not know AJ personally, have been deeply affected and concerned these past weeks. I know how many of you wore ribbons and reached out to friends and family beyond Longwood to raise awareness of the search. We are also grateful to the Longwood Police, who have helped to the utmost in aiding the Norfolk Police in whatever way they could. All of Longwood shares enormously in this grief. I am personally deeply grateful to the Norfolk officials with whom I and others here have been in close touch throughout, and who have worked tirelessly and with such compassion in an investigation that continues.

In the days and weeks ahead, I encourage all of us to reach out to faculty, friends, student affairs staff and to our counseling center to share your feelings and support. Days and grief such as this yield nothing except perspective, and call us all to care that much more for one another. At an appropriate juncture and with the wishes of the family, we will look to hold a service on campus in AJ memory.

Chewing sugar free gum increases the production of saliva, which can help neutralize plaque acid, wash away food debris and remineralize tooth enamel to help strengthen teeth. In fact, chewing sugar free gum for 20 minutes after meals and snacks has been proven to help protect your teeth.

Hydrocortisone cream and ointment

Hydrocortisone cream and ointment

What are hydrocortisone cream and ointment used for?Hydrocortisone cream and ointment can be bought without a prescription to relieve skin inflammation and itching associated with the conditions listed below:

Mild to moderate eczema and dermatitis.

Hydrocortisone acts inside the skin cells to stop the release of these inflammatory substances. This reduces the swelling, redness and itching and so helps prevent scratching that can further irritate the skin.

Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that can be applied to the skin to treat a wide variety of inflammatory skin reactions, such as reactions to plants, insect bites, jewellery, toiletries, deodorants, soaps and detergents. It’s also used to treat various forms of mild eczema.

Hydrocortisone cream is more suitable for moist, weeping areas of skin, while the thicker, more greasy ointment is more suitable for dry or scaly areas of skin.

How do I use hydrocortisone cream and ointment?Hydrocortisone cream or ointment should be applied thinly to the affected area(s) of skin once or twice a day.

Don’t cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages or other dressings unless directed by a doctor,
Hydrocortisone cream and ointment
as these will enhance the absorption of the medicine into the body and may increase the risk of side effects. Studies in animals do not necessarily relate to effects in humans, but there may be a small risk of such effects if enough steroid is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream of pregnant women. This will minimise any absorption of the steroid. If you need to apply the cream to your breasts don’t do this shortly before giving a feed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for further information.

What are the possible side effects of hydrocortisone cream and ointment?Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways.

Hydrocortisone cream and ointment are generally well tolerated and side effects are very rare when it is applied sparingly, no more than twice a day, for up to a week. If you think you have experienced a side effect, did you know you can report this using the yellow card website?

Can I use hydrocortisone cream and ointment with other medicines? It’s best to check with your pharmacist before using hydrocortisone cream if you’re already using any other medicines, particularly if you’re already using any other corticosteroid medicines.

If you need to use other topical medicines on the same area of skin it’s recommended that you leave several minutes between applying each product. This is to allow each product time to be absorbed and avoid them mixing on the skin.

If you also use a moisturiser it’s best to apply it about 30 minutes before applying hydrocortisone cream or ointment. This will help soften the skin and improve the absorption of the corticosteroid. If you apply a moisturiser just before or after applying hydrocortisone this can dilute the corticosteroid and potentially make it less effective. The web site does not have answers to all problems. Answers to specific problems may not apply to everyone. If you notice medical symptoms or feel ill, you should consult your doctor for further information see our Terms and conditions.

Note the value. Older Hermes bags, even if they have some minor damage, cost between $3,000 and $8,000, while upscale fakes can be found at around $1,000. These bags are pretty rare, so if he’s dozens, the possibilities high actually all fakes.

and elegance of the bag. Ensure that doesn’t necessarily have a very paper tag anywhere on it; real Hermes bags never do. There shouldn’t be metal brand marker within the interior in the bag. If he’s dealing real designer bags, he’s going to know. Also, the dustbags inside the bags made after 2007 are orange, while bags produced earlier have tan dustbags. If your year the dealer claims the bag was made doesn’t match along with of the dustbag, it should be a fake.

Think about the price. Authentic Hermes handbags typically sell for around $10,000, with regards to the materials. Even used bags aren’t heavily discounted and may even cost around $7,000. You will probably find a handbag for a smaller amount on the discount retail site, yet it’s possibly an imitation. Hermes Birkin bags are designed in limited quantities,

Icy roads cause hundreds of Chicago

SHOREWOOD, Ill. Icy roads triggered hundreds of car accidents across the Chicago area Wednesday morning.

Illinois State Police said Will County alonehad an estimated 200 incidents on the roads and at this point, they’re only responding to crashes that involve more than one vehicle, crashes blocking the interstate lanes or ones involving injuries.

Four fatal crashes were reported across Chicagoland Wednesday morning. One involved a fiery crash between a car and semi in Riverdale. Another fatal collision happened between a car and semi in Tinley Park. The third deadly accidentinvolved three cars and a Pace bus on Illinois Highway 31 near North Aurora. The fourth happened one on the Tri State Tollway near theHinsdaleOasis.

Things got so bad at one point Wednesday morning that state police were advising drivers to stay off the interstates.

IDOT Traffic spokeswoman Gianni Urgo told WGN that even some of their own trucks were involved in spin outs on the roads.

WGN viewers wrote to us about their horrible morning commutes. A viewer at a Speedway gas station in Hickory Hills says a car slid into a gas pump and the pump fell on his car, starting a fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

WGN spoke to one driver who had her front bumper in the backseat. She was heading to work on I 55 when the car in front of her started sliding out of control.

State police are working on the emergency road plan now, meaning if you get in an accident and your vehicle is still drivable and there are no injuries, exchange information and keep going.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Becoming pregnant should be a joy, but for women who suffer from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, it becomes something more akin to a nightmare. Here sufferer Johanne Jakeway herself a midwife explains her story

Most of you may not be aware that Charlotte Bronte, who died in 1855, four months into her first pregnancy may well have done so as a result of severe vomiting. Her sufferings were written in her diaries in detail and described her nights of vomiting with no reprieve at all. Does this sound familiar? It certainly did in my case.

Like Charlotte Bronte I also wrote down my experiences in a diary. I wrote constantly about the effects that I was suffering because of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). This is a severe and debilitating form of morning sickness a HG sufferer will prefer to use the term time of the day sickness as being a more accurate description and has been described as intractable vomiting before the twentieth week of pregnancy resulting in disturbed nutritional status. Although I am a midwife, and knew of it before I became pregnant, I had no idea how bad it could be until I suffered from it. And looking back at my diary now, I wrote with such bitterness and contempt for the condition that had made me become a shadow of my former self.

Hyperemesis made me very lonely and depressed. I would cry uncontrollably for what seemed to be hours, but I didn even have the strength to produce tears.

Movement makes the condition worse, so I found myself spending days upon days lying still in bed, unable to make even the slightest movement for fear of vomiting. The only time the nausea left me was when I slept. I couldn even tolerate my husband sitting on the bed beside me and I would scream for him to move, even the smell of him would make me vomit.

At 13 weeks, I was at an all time low. Having having lost two stone in weight, I pleaded with my family to help me to terminate my pregnancy. This was a much wanted and planned baby, but at the time it seemed to be my only option. I needed to be normal again. Now I wonder how I could have even contemplated such a thing? But Hyperemesis makes you think irrationally. I would have given anything for the nausea to subside.

If it wasn for the love from my family, and my eternal hope that it would eventually ease, things might have been very different. Colleagues would pass me by when I was ill in hospital not recognising me. Usually I worked with these people, but now I was unrecognisable to them. That upset me all the more.

The nausea and vomiting carried on relentlessly for another nine weeks. I had spent most of this time in hospital and was able to go home only for short periods. The management of my condition continued to be very difficult. There is no miracle cure for HG, no single treatment seems to be effective. My treatment ranged from anti emetics to antacids, supplements to vitamins and corticosteroids to acupuncture and homoeopathy.

Eventually the nausea did subside. At 24 weeks I was able to manage small meals as well as keeping fluids down. But I never ate and drank at the same time. Even though I continued to be weak, I was now able to function relatively normally, I never had anymore vomiting after that, but my husband and I lived in fear of the nausea returning and rearing its ugly head.

On 6th February 1999 Daniel James Jakeway arrived by emergency caesarean section. He weighed in at 8lb 10oz, amazing when you think what he put his mother through. It just goes to show that even though you are going through hell, it is only in very severe cases that a baby may be born with a lower than average birth weight.

But the effects of the HG didn’t just go. Certain smells or foods brought that that feeling of nausea back and it took me years to try again. I did though, and the Hyperemesis returned. I felt better able to deal with it this time, but was back on a drip again. I was also depressed, and my relationship with Daniel did suffer.

But Isobel was born on 27th July 2004 weighing 7lbs 1oz and also perfectly healthy.

Times have changed, but HG is still an awful condition!

In the past, severe pregnancy sickness or Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) was a significant cause of maternal deaths the only form of treatment available then was a therapeutic abortion.

Nowadays, the outcome is not so bleak. Thankfully, maternal morbidity and mortality are extremely rare, with the advancement of medicine and intravenous therapy, complications such as Wernicke Encephalopathy (owing to thiamine deficiency) can be avoided.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum does however continue to be a tiring and miserable condition that can have profound effects on the woman and her family.

Despite this, it remains a complication of pregnancy that is neither understood nor widely acknowledged throughout the medical profession. As a result many sufferers and their families are not receiving the appropriate emotional support that they desperately require.

Whilst it has been documented that nausea and vomiting in pregnancy affects up to 50% of pregnancies, only a small percentage of women have HG. The true incidence continues to be unknown, but having examined the literature it varies from between 0.3% to 3%.

It is not known what causes some women to become so desperate during their pregnancy as a result of HG, that terminating much wanted pregnancies seems to be their only means of escapism from sheer hell. The sooner that people realise HG is far more than ginger biscuits and sea bands the better!

Trying to manage HG

Many women may be able to manage their condition at home with various remedies to prevent them from having to be hospitalised. These range from taking small regular meals, never eating and drinking together, avoiding fatty foods and caffeine based drinks and sucking on small sweets, which may help with excessive saliva.

It is essential that midwives have a basic understanding of the condition, as well as ensuring that there is an up to date written protocol for the management of women who present with severe HG in hospital. These must be evidence based, including the most effective treatments presently available, until hopefully there is a gradual improvement in their condition as the pregnancy progresses.

It has been stated that a request for a termination must not be assumed that the pregnancy was not wanted or unplanned, but an indication of the degree of desperation felt by the patient.

As a health professional, I feel that it is our duty to maintain confidentiality during these sensitive periods as well as encouraging expression of thoughts and building upon a trusting relationship.

The truth about those pregnancy myths: Is there truth in any of those pregnancy rumours?

Pregnancy Calendar: A pregnancy calendar could be just what you need to keep on top of the rollercoaster ride. As well as helping you to explore and understand the experience, it will also allow you to preserve the memories (good and not so good!).

The TTS function will also allow you to listen to an audio version of magazines, newspaper articles, documents and even blogs. More and more Kindle users realized it’s a very useful function of the Kindle.

Regrettably, there are several limitations on the Kindle’s TTS feature.

1. Not every book on your Kindle can be read aloud because publishers may disable the feature for their books.

2. The quality of the voices is not very good. We expect humanlike natural sounding voices, but the Kindle’s voices are robotic.

Idaho governor to give final State of the State speech

Idaho governor to give final State of the State speech

Christy Perry, a Republican from Nampa, says she wore all black during the annual “State of the State” address to show support for sexual violence victims and to highlight the importance of women in the workplace.

Perry, who is also running Idaho open 1st Congressional District, said Monday that women who experience sexual harassment in the workplace often face worse situations back at home. She added that it important to raise awareness about supporting women in all areas of life.

Perry decision to wear all black comes just a day after almost every attendee at the Golden Globes Awards also wore black in support of the Time Up movement and as a statement against sexual misconduct.

All Idaho lawmakers will undergo “respectful workplace training” Tuesday. The training will include new policies on sexual harassment and changes on how to report misconduct.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tommy Ahlquist thanked Gov. “Butch” Otter for his years of service, but said the upcoming race for the state highest elected office is about the future not the past.

Ahlquist, who is running for elected office for the first time, released a statement Monday following Otter twelfth and final “State of the State” address to lawmakers. The speech kicks off the 2018 legislative session.

Otter is not running for re election this year. Instead, Lt. Gov. Rep Raul Labrador and Ahlquist have all filed as Republican candidates in the open gubernatorial race.

Campaign manager David Johnston says Ahlquist is a political outsider who will bring a fresh approach to Idaho.

Throughout his 55 minute speech on Monday, Otter focused on the benefits of political experience in order to learn the proper role of government.

Idaho Democratic legislative leaders thanked Gov. “Butch” Otter for his service to the state of Idaho, noting that Otter has maintained a spirit of civil discourse even though the minority party hasn always seen eye to eye with the Republican politician.

However, House Minority Leader Mat Erpelding of Boise said Monday he was concerned Otter proposed $192 million tax cut will be balanced out on the backs of Idaho families.

Furthermore, Erpelding says Otter 12 years in the executive office has left an entire generation of Idahoans impacted by inconsistent policies on education and health care.

Gov. “Butch” Otter is asking state lawmakers to approve a nearly $200 million tax cut for Idaho taxpayers.

Otter unveiled his tax cut package Monday during his “State of the State” address.

The announcement comes at a time when tax officials are warning lawmakers that Idaho taxpayers could end up paying roughly $100 million more next year as a result of the Republican tax overhaul that President Donald Trump signed into law last month.

Otter proposal is the latest idea lawmakers and tax experts are tossing around to ensure Idahoans receive tax relief, particularly as many Republican lawmakers face re election in the upcoming GOP primary in May.

Separately, Otter is once again pushing lawmakers to reduce a key component in how Idaho calculates the unemployment insurance tax rate because the trust fund Idaho uses to pay unemployment benefits has more money than it needs to survive an economic crisis. Lawmakers failed to take up the governor request last year.

Gov. “Butch” Otter final “State of the State” address begins with announcing Idaho is in a better place than when he took over office 12 years ago.

Otter said Monday that the governmental growth has remained limited during his three terms in the executive office, but the state has made important investments with its tax revenue.

The Republican governor is not seeking a fourth term.

Otter uses the annual speech to outline his budget and policy priorities for the upcoming fiscal year 2019. This year, Otter is asking lawmakers to raise the budget 6.6 percent bringing the budget total to roughly $3.6 billion.

Idaho Republican senators have elected new legislative leaders before the 2018 session officially kicks off.
